Zonya Dawson
Digital Communications Associate
Zonya Dawson is GovAct’s Digital Communications Associate, bringing nearly a decade of experience in digital communications, project management, and nonprofit advocacy to her work at GovAct. Zonya has led high-impact digital initiatives for organizations advancing democracy, voting rights, language access, environmental justice, and survivor advocacy, with a focus on making complex policy and civic issues clear, accessible, and actionable.
Prior to joining GovAct, Zonya served as senior digital manager at the States United Democracy Center and has worked extensively with mission-driven nonprofits on digital strategy, content development, and audience growth. Her work includes launching award-winning digital projects, building and managing cross-functional teams, growing online communities, and leading large-scale email, social media, and paid digital campaigns.
A Colorado State University alum, Zonya began her career in direct service as a victim advocate coordinator, an experience that continues to shape her data-driven, community-centered, and human-first approach to communications.
