Deni Kamper

Strategic Communications Director

With nearly a decade of experience in strategic political communications and journalism, Deni is passionate about using effective storytelling to advance policy priorities. Before joining GovAct, she served as communications director and political advisor for U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, where she led messaging and media strategies on a range of policy issues, including gun violence prevention, immigration, and economic fairness.  

Prior to her time in the Senate, Deni held communications roles on the Oversight Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and in a congressional office representing her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.  

After graduating from DePaul University with Bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science, she began her career as a local news reporter in Louisville, Kentucky and Fayetteville, Arkansas, before transitioning to politics. She continues to draw on her experiences covering city and state government and community issues to develop effective messaging strategies that highlight the real-world impact of policymaking.
